Sruthan
9th June
From the land, comes the cloth, comes the language…
Sruthan (/sdruhan/)
‘Small stream’
These are the light, fast-moving river-roads of the hillside.
Their golden waters skip around the bedrock of the island, forming foamy, peaty waterfalls and cool, crystal clear pools.
Our Gaelic Moorland Word of the Week comes from ‘Rathad an Isein, The Bird’s Road: a Lewis Moorland Glossary’, a compilation by Anne Campbell.
