Patience and time: Two requirements for many of the stages in creating Harris Tweed® fabric, something this writer clearly knew all too well!
Carding comes after washing and dyeing the wool, and before spinning. The process of carding teases and mixes the fibres of the wool before they are separated into a fragile, embryonic yarn. These days this is done by mechanical toothed rollers, but back when this postcard was written, it was all done by hand with carding boards and patience.
