Bliadhna Mhath Ùr
31st December
It’s written in the cloth we weave,
the story of the year we leave.
A blend of fibres and the memories they hold,
the light against the dark, the yarns can be told.
A woven love bound together in warp and weft,
the promise of the shuttle’s return from right to left.
A time to reflect at this year-end,
no cloth is perfect, with mistakes to mend.
An excited heart beating to the clickety-clack, the rhythm of the feet,
Every blessing to all, hurrah – another is complete!
‘Weaving the Year’ by Alannah Macneill
We’ll end 2022 with a dram by the fire.
Bliadhna Mhath Ùr (Happy New Year) from all at the Harris Tweed Authority!
