The Harris Tweed® Journal

Lest we forget

12th November

At 11am on November 11 each year, a two-minute silence is held in a tradition that was first started 100 years ago by King George V in 1919. This is done to mark the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month when the armistice was signed to bring the end of WWI.

Pictured are 11 beautiful Harris Tweed® poppies created by The Harris Tweed Florist to commemorate this solemn occasion.

Also you will see The Hairy Piper wearing them – Ali has been raising funds for service veterans for several years, having experienced PTSD himself, and if you wish to help him raise funds for Poppy Scotland then you can donate to this worthwhile cause and read his story here.

Lest we forget.
