27th February

Today, we would like to acknowledge the achievements of and recent recognition by the Worship Company of Weavers of our friend and colleague, Mr Ian Angus Mackenzie.

Ian was awarded the silver medal at an awards ceremony in Saddlers Hall in London on the 20th of February in recognition of his contribution to the textile industry – 50 years of it to the Harris Tweed® industry.

Over these years, Ian has been a weaver, a weaving trainer, a representative of weavers, CEO of the Harris Tweed Authority, CEO of Harris Tweed Hebrides and now Chairman of that company also.

Acknowledging this prestigious award, Ian paid tribute to others from across the local community; “I’m delighted to accept this award on behalf of our island industry and all those who have worked with me over these past 50 years”.
